The Variable Expression Builder is a tool that allows you to easily build a variable expression from a list of supported types. This dialog is accessed by editing applicable function parameters in the Script Editor, like the property value of the Set Entity Property and Set Global Property functions. In order to build an expression, select a type from the list on the left and then plug in/select the desired value on the right.
When the game evaluates the expression in the example above, it will check for a global property named “gems_collected” and retrieve its value. In addition to using this wizard-type method of building the expression, you can also directly edit the expression in the text field at the top of the dialog. The icon to the right of the text field will indicate whether the expression is valid () or invalid ().
Refer to the Variable Expression page for more information on the structure of variable expressions and a few examples.
