Pizza JamaicanDave this is some fine 2d art if I ever seen it, doesn't even look like it was made from RIAB! It's outstanding!
JamaicanDave Fancy doing some trading? You'll certainly need more gear if you want to survive exploring the island. There are several NPCs, particularly in the main village settlement, that will buy and sell various goods.
JamaicanDave Here's another map, an old keep located on a small hill by the sea. It's one of the main quest locations the player has to clear to progress. There's also 3 smaller internal areas for the keep, a ground floor, upper floor and dungeon:
JamaicanDave Below is the basic character creation screen and all in one character/inventory/equipment screen.
Harogat / Mani I really like what you are creating here!!! Your other projects that I have seen are also amazing!
JamaicanDave Below is a shot displaying the Player character equipped with different tools of the trade (ie weapons and armour).
JamaicanDave There are various quests in the game, some required to complete the game whilst others are optional but provide extra rewards or unlock better items from traders.
JamaicanDave There's a shady looking rogue in the village who'll buy any valuables you come across, no questions asked!
JamaicanDave A few inhabitants in a farming hamlet and the village inn for players to interact with for general chit chat and quests.
JamaicanDave Not too much to show at them moment. Slowly been chipping away setting up NPC dialogue and containers scripts including basic skill checks.
JamaicanDave Quick update - the project is still going but progress has slowed, especially over the summer holiday period. The sheer amount of scripting for what I thought was a nice small project is a bit exhausting! A few aspects aren't quite working as intended but that's mostly due to continual development of RiaB. I'm now leaning towards releasing a rough and ready beta version of the project with a few things parred back and unpolished for general feedback whilst I take a break.
JamaicanDave Not that soon I'm afraid, still quite a bit of scripting to do before it's playable to completion.
JamaicanDave Very nearly finished the first draft dialogue for all the NPC's. There's about 50 NPC's the player can talk to to varying degree's and player characteristics sometimes determine what dialogue is presented. It's all very work in progress, i.e. rather basic and littered with typos 😅, but all lines are unique and often the initiating dialogue will be one of several selected at random each time the player interacts with a character. I have many regrets as I vastly underestimated how much work would be involved but never mind, you live and learn!
