Yet a chance meeting with a travelling friar revealed compelling evidence the tomb was located somewhere on Hearthingal isle, more commonly known as the Twilight Isle. With heady visions of fabulous wealth and eternal glory you resolve to travel to the isle and discover Thangmar's final resting place."

The Twilight Isle is a short top down RPG set on a small fantasy island where you play a bold adventurer seeking fame and fortune. The project was started as an exercise in learning all the elements needed to create a fully fleshed out game in RPG in a Box. It uses a simple visual style and replication of some publicly available assets to try and keep development to a manageable timeframe. I really hope can see it through to completion!

I remember your awesome mini-games in different setting. Are you planing to turn one of them into a big game once this one is released?

Thanks. There's a project thread on the RiaB discord with a load more screenshots and dev comments some of which I'll gradually transfer to the forum here along with all new progress. We'll see how it goes, there's only a handful of maps left to draft out but I was away for a bit and need to get back into the groove again.

And thanks for reminding me about the mini-games, I meant to create a project thread for those to but completely forgot. No plans to develop them further but have plenty of other project ideas rattling around, particularly with all the new features being added to RiaB.

Here's a selection of villager NPCs that inhabit the settlements and the player can interact with to obtain information, quests and trade items. They're all based off MiniFolks assets on itch.io which I've replicated rather than imported and animations will be very barebones.

Soldiers/militia NPCs to go with the villagers above.

A range of brigands, goblinoids and undead the player will have to overcome as they explore the island.

Finally for now a handful of wildlife, some of which may be hostile.

First attempt at the primary village settlement. Couldn't zoom out far enough to get it all in one shot so it's split into a top and bottom half.

This village with stockade is one of the main locations and contains several important places for the player including:
the land owners manor house
small church/temple
blacksmith
general merchant
tavern

Fancy doing some trading? You'll certainly need more gear if you want to survive exploring the island. There are several NPCs, particularly in the main village settlement, that will buy and sell various goods.

Here's another map, an old keep located on a small hill by the sea. It's one of the main quest locations the player has to clear to progress.

There are various quests in the game, some required to complete the game whilst others are optional but provide extra rewards or unlock better items from traders.
