Did you know that RPG in a Box is around 10 years old? Its first public release, v0.0.1, was on June 6th, 2015! I recently downloaded my data archive from the blue bird site, and I thought that could provide a fun opportunity to go back and share some random older posts over the coming months to celebrate. đŸĨŗ

Wow, check out this preview trailer for the RPG in a Box v0.0.2 Alpha from way back in 2015! It's hard to believe how far it's come. 😲 Anyone remember when it looked like this?

Then vs. Now: a very early look at the script editor. Back then there were only two functions, "Load Map" and "Display Message". 😂 The Bauxite scripting system looks a lot different now! Which Bauxite function is most used in your games?

Animation was added to RPG in a Box towards the end of 2015. This is the original GIF! I still remember how excited I was to see characters walking around for the first time! So fun to draw each frame then see it come to life in-game! â˜ēī¸

From the beginning I wanted RPG in a Box to be fun and simple to use, but still be flexible and open enough so that you're free to mix and match styles and mechanics to make your game unique and your own. The camera system alone offers so many options!

Around 9 years ago, v0.1-alpha arrived! The release trailer really shows just how far RPG in a Box has come since then! 😄

Vloxelworld by Ofihombre, started in 2016, was one of the first user-made projects created with RPG in a Box! It uses the first-person camera and even features an arcade. 🕹ī¸

In March of 2016, RPG in a Box v0.2-alpha arrived! Its primary new feature was the Dialogue Editor. The original node-based version shown here will be returning in 2.0! đŸĨŗ

RPG in a Box v0.3-alpha arrived in May 2016, and with it came the visual script editor! Prior to v0.3, scripts were made using a simple text-based outline. It's really fun looking back at how everything's evolved over the last 10 years! 😮

Anyone remember Steam Greenlight? RPG in a Box came to Steam through the Greenlight system. It went through the community voting process and was greenlit in June of 2016! 💚đŸšĻ

My first ever #screenshotsaturday from June 2016. To be fully transparent, back then I was so far from believing in the potential of RPG in a Box and believing in myself. In a way, RPG in a Box's growth, evolution, and breaking out of its former limitations is a reflection of my own personal growth.
