New Feature: Real-time grid-based combat improvements
The next release will be bringing some exciting updates to the real-time grid-based combat system! This includes two significant improvements to how combat works when using this particular system.
Firstly, projectiles (e.g. from ranged weapons) no longer lock onto their targets! Previously, a projectile would hit its target even if the target was no longer at its original position. Now projectiles will behave more like they do in free movement and can be dodged! A hit will only occur if the projectile physically makes contact with something.
Secondly, to supplement the first change and to improve grid-based combat in general, you'll now be able to freely attack at any time, similar to free movement combat! This means that you'll no longer need to directly click on an enemy to attack them. The "Grid Movement" input binding scheme in the Game Configuration dialog will include an "Attack" action for this new functionality (Ctrl key by default).
I believe these two changes should really help improve real-time grid-based combat, making it more enjoyable and providing more flexibility in the types of grid-based games that you can create with RPG in a Box!
